Citizen’s Police AcademyThe Citizen’s Police Academy was established in 1996 and over 200 citizens have participated in this program. Classes cover a variety of topics including patrol operations, records, traffic, jail, communications, and more! If you are interested in learning more about law enforcement and the Pacific Grove Police Department, contact us at (831) 648-3143.

To apply to be part of the Citizens Police Academy, fill out the application below. Since there are a limited number of spaces available in the Academy, qualified applicants will be selected on a first-come first-served basis. Applicants will be notified of their selection status.

Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) ProgramThe DARE Program is active at both Forest Grove Elementary School and Robert Down Elementary School. Officer Justin Hankes teaches and leads the DARE Program. The DARE Program is generously funded by the Pacific Grove Rotary Club through the Annual Pacific Grove Councours Auto Rally.

Ride-A-Long ProgramThe Pacific Grove Police Department offers ride-a-longs with Police Officers for local citizens interested in learning more about their community and law enforcement’s role. If you would like to go on a ride-a-long with a patrol officer, complete the application form and drop it by the station at 580 Pine Avenue. Applications will only be accepted with photo identification.
