Are you struggling with overdue housing payments?

Consider looking into the California Mortgage Relief Program, administered by the CalHFA Homeowner Relief Corporation and funded by the Homeowner’s Assistance Fund under the 2021 American Rescue Plan Act.

The program has already assisted over 20,000 households (110 households in Monterey County), providing an average of $25,000 per household to eligible homeowners across the state. Up to $80,000 per household may be available to eligible applicants.

The four main assistance areas under this program include:

  1. Mortgage Relief,
  2. Property Tax Assistance,
  3. Partial Claim/Loan Deferral Assistance, and
  4. Reverse Mortgage Assistance.

State Propert Tax Postponement The State Controller’s Property Tax Postponement Program - Allows homeowners who are seniors, are blind, or have a disability to defer current-year property taxes on their principal residence if they meet certain criteria, including at least 40 percent equity in the home and an annual household income of $45,810 or less (among other requirements). The deferment of property taxes is secured by a lien against the property which must eventually be repaid.
