HISTORIC RESOURCES COMMITTEE butterfly

IMPORTANT UPDATES

Meetings will be conducted in-person and via Zoom.

The Historic Resources Committee consists of seven members appointed to staggered terms of two years who demonstrate interest and knowledge of historic preservation and cultural resources. One member shall be a licensed architect with preservation experience, one shall be a licensed general contractor with preservation experience, and one shall be a representative of the Pacific Grove Heritage Society (Heritage Society shall appoint its member).

The Committee was created by ordinance to hear and make determinations regarding additions and deletions to the historic resources inventory. The Committee also performs such other duties relating to the historical preservation of the community as further described in Chapter 23.76 of the Pacific Grove Municipal Code. Any property may be added to the City’s Historic Resources Inventory in accordance with the requirements of Municipal Code Section 23.76.030(a). Inclusion on the Inventory is based on the criteria listed in Municipal Code Section 23.76.025 and is not limited to a specific year of construction. The consent of the property owner is not required for inclusion on the Inventory.  The Pacific Grove Historic Context Statement, Guidelines for Historic Assessment, and Historic Resources Inventory can be found on the City's Historic Resources webpage:  Historic Resources

To contact the Historic Resources Committee, please send an email at hrc@cityofpacificgrove.org.
