Published: Feb 10, 2021
Monterey County Health Department announced today more individuals will soon be eligible for COVID-19 vaccinations as vaccine supply allows.

Beginning with clinics on Wednesday, February 17th individuals 65 and older who work in the industry sectors of food and agriculture, education and childcare and emergency services as well as those 65 and older in the ZIP codes of the greatest need will be eligible for to schedule appointments to get vaccinated.

“This change is a continuation of the risk-based approach Monterey County has been taking to the roll out of limited vaccines.  The change allows for the COVID vaccine to be open to those at most risk for severe illness and death while balancing the need to protect those who are essential workers”, said Dr. Edward Moreno, Monterey County Health Officer. “It is important to note that even as Monterey County opens up eligibility, vaccine supply is still limited.”

The following ZIP codes are included in this change:

  • North County: 95012, 95039, 95076
  • Peninsula & Big Sur: 93933, 93955
  • Salinas: 93901, 93905, 93906
  • South County 93925, 93927, 93930, 93960

The ZIP codes are and are based on the Healthy Places Index lowest quartile in the County and are used as an equity measure by State that affects the County’s ability to move to a less restrictive tier to open more businesses and activities.

Vaccine clinics are posted at http://mcvaccinates.com and are scheduled as vaccine is available. Individuals who are 75 and older can continue to make appointments for the COVID vaccine.

Expansion of vaccine eligibility to the remainder of Phase 1b is dependent on the availability of vaccine.
