DRAFT George Washington Park Forest Management Plan - AVAILABLE FOR REVIEW butterfly

Published: Aug 05, 2022
The Draft Forest Management Plan for George Washington Park (FMP) is now available for public review at the follow link: www.cityofpg.org/buildings-grounds

The FMP was funded through the City's Capital Improvement Program and was developed to meet the goals of reducing the risk of a destructive wildfire spreading in the park and to improve the overall forest health within the forested area of the Park.  The FMP describes the management strategies the City can embark on, over the 5-year FMP timeframe, to reduce wildfire hazard to the homes surrounding the park and to restore healthy forest conditions to the interior of the Park.  The FMP addresses the 17-acres of natural forested area (Zones 2, 3 & 4).

We are encouraging public review of the document and asking all comments be sent to pwoutreach@cityofpacificgrove.org by close of business on Wednesday, September 14, 2022!

Review is tentatively scheduled for the October 12, 2022 BNRC Meeting.  Following BNRC review, the plan will be brought forth to the City Council.
