Food Scraps Now Go In the Green Cart! butterfly

Published: Jan 07, 2022
It’s a lot easier being green in the new year. Now, Monterey County residents can put food scraps in the green curbside cart, to be composted with their yard trimmings.

Nearly all kinds of food scraps except liquids and raw meat can go into
the green cart for curbside pickup:
  • Cooked meat, fish, bones, and shells
  • Cheese and other solid dairy products
  • Bread, pasta, pastry, and other grains
  • Coffee grounds
  • Fruits and vegetables.
Pacific Grove Residents - pick up your FREE kitchen counter food scraps bin at the Public Works Corporation Yard (2100 Sunset Dr), every Monday & Tuesday between 1- 3 pm OR Saturdays at the Pacific Grove Public Library from 10 am - 5 pm through February. Questions/need special accommodations? Contact Public Works at 831-648-5722.
