We are happy to announce, PGPD is embarking on the final steps in becoming nationally accredited through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA). The accreditation program verifies that a law enforcement agency meets professional standards by complying with four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

This year, PGPD completed policy revisions, improved procedures, and successfully completing a review from CALEA Compliance Service Members. The next step in the process is the virtual (typically on-site) Assessment on Monday, August 17, 2020 and Tuesday, August 18, 2020, by two CALEA Assessors.

A portion of the Assessment is a chance for our community members to participate in a Public Hearing scheduled on Monday, August 17th from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm, a one-on-one Call-In session with a CALEA Assessor on Tuesday, August 18th from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, or submitted written comments. To review the list of CALEA standards go to: https://www.calea.org/node/11406.
