Water Wait List

Please note that the sale of water entitlements has been under discussion by City Council at the May 15, 2019 and November 7, 2018 Council meetings.

Clean, potable water is a precious resource, particularly on the Monterey Peninsula and in Pacific Grove.  Potable water is regulated by the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District and by Pacific Grove Municipal Code Chapter 11.68. The City of Pacific Grove continues to work with other peninsula jurisdictions, Cal Am, and the Monterey Peninsula Water Management District to help advance future water supply opportunities.

If your project requires additional water, you may apply to have your project placed on the Water Wait List.  In order to be placed on the list, the project must demonstrate proof of readiness to apply for a building permit. For more information, please see the Water Wait List Checklist.

The Monterey Peninsula Water Management District is available to answer your water credit questions and assist property owners with their water conservation efforts. You can contact them at (831) 658-5601.

Additionally, a California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) moratorium may interfere with Cal-Am’s ability to set new water meters to serve projects that do not have access to a current, active Cal-Am water meter. Please contact Cal-Am for more information at 831-646-3205.
