On Tuesday, March 10, the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) made a determination to relocate a small group of individuals from the Grand Princess cruise ship to the Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove, a facility that is both State-owned and operated.  As of March 11, none of these individuals are known to have contracted novel coronavirus (COVID-19), and they will be tested and monitored by medical professionals while at Asilomar.  All aspects of the State quarantine effort at Asilomar Conference Center are being controlled and/or operated by State or Federal agencies and their respective personnel.  No City of Pacific Grove or Asilomar Conference Center employees are involved or exposed to the State quarantine effort.  The Center for Disease Control is an integral part of the State quarantine effort at Asilomar Conference Center, ensuring proper protocols are being followed.  Additional details regarding the State quarantine effort at Asilomar Conference Center may be found at the following link:

3/29/2020 UPDATE: This weekend the City received notification from a CalOES official the care site at Asilomar is currently in the demobilization process and the CalOES operation has concluded. Starting tomorrow on Monday, March 30th through Wednesday, April 1st, all fencing and logistic items will be removed. If circumstances change, the potential to re-open at a later date will remain a possibility. We will continue to update our community as information becomes available.
