Governor Gavin Newsom announced Monday that the State would lessen some of the requirements to obtain the variance; Monterey County is close to meeting those new requirements.
As Governor Newsom rolls out the “phased” plan to reopen California, local leaders are working diligently to open up business in Monterey County. Recognizing health and safety as the #1 priority, there are required operational changes that must be made in order to reopen.
The State has posted industry guidelines for businesses to follow, if they're permitted to open per county health rules.
In addition, Monterey County Business Council and Small Business Development Center, in partnership with the County of Monterey and City of Salinas put together a Webinar regarding the topic.
The state has received many innovative proposals from California businesses and labor representatives on how they’re adapting their workplaces to reduce the risk of coronavirus transmission. The state is asking now for your feedback and ideas on physical and environmental adaptations that can make workplaces safer and protect our communities via an online California Recovery Roadmap Survey.
