Salary Schedule

Benefits - Part-Time EmployeesDeferred Compensation Plan
The City of Pacific Grove participates in the Public Agency Retirement Services (PARS) system. The City does not participate in Social Security.

Sick Leave
Eligible part-time employees, temporary, and seasonal, earn one hour of paid leave for every 30 hours worked. Accrual begins on the first day of employment. Employees are entitled to use the accrued paid sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment.

Benefits - Full-Time EmployeesBelow is a brief outline of benefits provided to full-time employees of the City of Pacific Grove. Employees may be eligible for additional benefits as specified in the MOU’s. 30-hr employees receive benefits on pro-rated basis for those they are eligible.
Medical Plan
Employees may choose from one of the CalPERS medical plans available to the city:

Dental Plan
Employees may elect to enroll in the City’s group dental plan provided by The Standard Dental.
Vision Plan
Employees may elect to enroll in the City’s vision plan provided by Vision Services Plan (VSP)
Employer Health Contributions
The City provides a health contribution in accordance with each employee association's Memorandum of Understanding (see bottom of the page).

Voluntary Supplemental Insurance Plan
Optional supplemental insurance plan (Accident, Cancer, Critical Illness, Hospital, Life and Dental), pre-tax flexible spending account (FSA) and dependent care spending account programs are available through AFLAC.

Long-Term Disability
Deferred Compensation Plan
Voluntary participation in City’s deferred compensation program is available to employees through MassMutual.

Retirement
Participation the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS). Retirement formulas and employee contribution rates vary for miscellaneous members and safety members under the provisions of the group’s Memorandum of Understanding and in compliance with the 2013 Pension Reform Act (PEPRA). More information about the City's CalPERS participation is available here. The City does not participate in Social Security. 

529 College Savings Plan
Voluntary participation in a 529 College Savings Plan is available to employees wishing to save for future college costs. Reduced minimal contribution through The Vanguard 529 Plan.
