Citizen’s Police Academy

The Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association and Commander Lakind are planning the next Citizens Police Academy in Spring 2016. The Citizen’s Police Academy was established in 1996 and over 200 citizens have participated in this program. Classes cover a variety of topics including patrol operations, records, traffic, jail, communications, and more! Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Program

The DARE Program is active at both Forest Grove Elementary School and Robert Down Elementary School. Corporal Lonsinger and Officer Rasul teach and lead the DARE Program. The DARE Program is generously funded by the Pacific Grove Rotary Club through the Annual Pacific Grove Councours Auto Rally.

Ride-A-Long Program

The Pacific Grove Police Department offers ride-a-longs with Police Officers for local citizens interested in learning more about their community and law enforcement’s role. If you would like to go on a ride-a-long with a patrol officer, complete the application form and drop it by the station at 580 Pine Avenue. Applications will only be accepted with photo identification.

Police Reserve Officer Program

The police department currently employs four part-time police reserve officers. Reserve officers have attended a police academy, are required to participate in regular perishable skills training, and assist officers with patrol calls for service. In addition, they are a huge help in patrolling and assisting with special events from Good Old Days to the Feast of Lanterns and everything in between. School Crossing Guards

The Pacific Grove employs two part-time school crossing guards, one each stationed at intersections near Forest Grove Elementary School and Robert Down Elementary School.

School Resource Officer

Officer Billy Hawkins is currently assigned as the Pacific Grove Unified School District School Resource Officer. Officer Hawkins' office is located at Pacific Grove High School. If you have any questions for Officer Hawkins, contact him at bhawkins@cityofpacificgrove.org.
