Local Coastal Program

Local Coastal Program Update

The City of Pacific Grove's Local Coastal Program is in the midst of an update and the City would love your participation.  The Local Coastal Program governs parks, open space and development in the City's Coastal Zone.  The City anticipates completion of the certification process in 2017.  Please read the Frequently Asked Questions. Staff thanks everyone who submitted comments on both the Land Use Plan and Implementation Plan. 

On December 8, 2016, the Planning Commission unanimously recommended 5-0-1 (Commissioner Byrne absent, one vacancy) the Local Coastal Program Land Use Plan and Implementation Plan as amended on November 3, November 17 and December 8, be forwarded on the City Council for approval.
The City Council discussed the Local Coastal Program on March 1 and April 5, 2017. Staff is analyzing the comments received by Coastal Commission staff on the Implementation received in June 2017 and will continue to work with Coastal Commission staff to craft an IP that addresses both Council direction and Coastal Commission comments. The next Council meeting is TBD.

August 20, 2015 9:30-10:30am.  Archaeology Talk at Lovers Point Park.  Meet at the Butterfly Statue and join State Parks staff, a local archaeologist and City staff for an educational Archaeology Talk and learn about local archaeology and the City's coast.

June 13, 2015 9:30-10:30am. Community walk in the Asilomar State Parks Sand Dunes. Meet in Hearst Social Hall and join State Parks staff and City staff for an informative Dunes Walk about this unique environmentally sensitive habitat area.

April 16, 2015 at 9am. Meet in the Tournament Room at Point Pinos Grill and join staff and the Planning Commission for a coastal walk.

Survey Results
