The City of Pacific Grove participates in the Public Agency Retirement Services (PARS) system. The City does not participate in Social Security.
Benefits - Full-Time Employees
Below is a brief outline of benefits provided to full-time employees of the City of Pacific Grove. Employees may be eligible for additional benefits as specified in the MOU’s. 30-hr employees receive benefits on pro-rated basis for those they are eligible.
Employees may choose from one of the CalPERS medical plans available to the city:
For employees in the GEA, MEA and POA groups and enrolled in one of the City sponsored health insurance programs, the City contributes $100 per month.
Employees in the GEA are eligible for a City contribution of $350 per month and employees in the MEA are eligible for a City contribution of $368.75 which may be used as an off-set for health care costs.
Supplemental Insurance Plan
Optional supplemental insurance plan, pre-tax flexible spending account (TSA) and dependent care spending account programs are available through AFLAC.
Includes float holidays and paid time off (PTO) in accordance to accrual rates outlined in the Memorandum of Understanding
Group term life insurance and AD&D policies are provided by the City.
Long-term Disability insurance is provided by the City.
Deferred Compensation Plan
Voluntary participation in City’s deferred compensation programs is available to employees.
Participation the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS). Retirement formulas and employee contribution rates vary for miscellaneous members and safety members under the provisions of the group’s Memorandum of Understanding and in compliance with the 2013 Pension Reform Act (PEPRA). More information about the City's CalPERS participation is available here. The City does not participate in Social Security.
